Consulting approach and project highlights

The project focused on establishing a scalable, API-driven platform while maintaining business continuity and platform stability.

Key project highlights included:

  • Architecture Assessment: The project began with a detailed review of the existing SAP Commerce implementation. Customizations, CMS components, and integrations were analyzed to determine how they would be adapted for the composable storefront architecture.
  • OCC API Enablement: Backend facades and converters were adapted to expose structured commerce data through SAP Commerce OCC REST APIs, enabling the composable storefront to retrieve commerce data through a fully decoupled API layer.
  • CMS Component Migration: Legacy CMS components built for the Accelerator storefront were redesigned as headless-compatible components within SAP Commerce while remaining fully manageable through SAP SmartEdit.
  • Business Logic Refactoring: Business logic previously embedded in JSP controllers and view layers was moved into proper SAP Commerce service and facade layers, improving maintainability and architectural separation.
  • Checkout and Cart Alignment: Custom cart and checkout functionality was aligned with the OCC checkout APIs used by SAP Composable Storefront, ensuring compatibility with the new frontend framework.
  • Platform Upgrade Coordination: Backend SAP Commerce upgrades were carefully coordinated with Spartacus (SAP Composable Storefront) releases to ensure compatibility and platform stability across versions.

Customer solution and advantages

With the implementation of SAP Composable Storefront, Mr. Bricolage now operates on a modern digital commerce architecture designed for flexibility, scalability, and continuous innovation.

Key advantages of the new platform include:

  • Future-Ready Commerce Architecture: The composable architecture separates frontend and backend systems, creating a scalable platform aligned with the future direction of SAP Commerce Cloud.
