AI Essentials: What Every Business Needs to Know
As we move forward on our journey with AI, I want to share my experience about which success factors will serve your AI projects best.
In this newsletter, well talk about the importance of problem definition and goal setting, the realistic potential (and current limitations) of AI self-optimization, and the immense advantage of working with trusted partners who understand your specific business challenges.
Why Problem Definition and Goal Setting is Essential for AI Projects
In the beginning of an AI project, during what we refer to as the discovery phase, having clear problem definitions and goals is essential. Below are a few tips that will help you:
⭕ Define the Problem: Use analytical capabilities to go deep into the problems at hand. A clear problem statement is what will guarantee success.
⭕ Establish Clear Objectives: Determine what success looks like. With measurable outcomes, we can determine whether we are moving towards achieving them.
⭕ Use Case in Focus: We worked with a retail customer to enhance their learning platform with a knowledge base. Users were struggling to access and find key product information.
There was a clear goal to ease, fast and very reliable access to learning programs.
This focus led to the creation of an intuitive platform that significantly improved user experience and reduced support requests. The addition of advanced support functionality, like a ticketing system and an AI chatbot for immediate support, supported this objective and helped in efficient problem-solving.
Additionally, implementing a secure payment solution for e-learning courses further enhanced the user experience. By clearly defining the problem and goals, the collaboration resulted in a robust, scalable application that effectively meets the ongoing needs of the client and their customers/users. The users are looking forward to interacting with the chatbot because they know that they will receive excellent service.
I know chatbots for customer service have come a long way, and there is still work to be done, but to me, the future of chatbots, especially in service delivery, looks very promising.
⭕ Team Tip: Encourage your team to define and document problems and goals at the start of each project. This will help keep everyone aligned and headed in the right direction.
Can AI Optimize and Learn Itself?
AI advancements suggest that self-optimization is on the horizon, but it comes with its own set of challenges. Heres how to approach this problem:
Tips and Tricks:
✅ Use Pre-Trained Models: The majority of successful solutions can use pre-trained models to go live quicker in your projects.
✅ Continuous Training: Understand that optimization is not a one-time event. Create an automated feedback loop for model training to enhance performance over time.
✅ Emerging Trend: Explainable AI is also an area of interest for most leading companies where users are able to view the steps that models take to come to their conclusion, optimizing with more transparency and actionability.
✅ Team Tip: Invest in ongoing training for your team on existing trends and technology in AI for ongoing improvement and understanding of model potential.
AI shall not just automate but actually simplify the processes
Seize the Right Opportunity with Your Trusted Partner
Finding the right AI solution often begins with collaborating with your trusted partners. Here is how to get it to work effectively:
Tips and Tricks:
✅Consult Experts: First, speak with an expert who works in the area of AI and understands your precise problems and business KPIs.
✅Utilize Existing Connections: A current established partner who is familiar with your business is able to provide wise input and solutions catered to your particular needs.
✅Remember:
AI is not just an enhancement of better algorithms, it is an entirely new way of how you address your biggest problems.
Working with your trusted partner is not just looking into Automation, but building your strategic objectives together.
Collaboration with AI requires mindful problem formulation, a willingness to learn and get better, and strong collaborations. By embracing these values, we can effectively employ AI, spurring innovation and creating value for our organizations.
